There was some question this past summer whether the PS3 Fallout 3 fan base would pick up the game again for downloadable content available a year later. Well those of you like me who've tried the new DLC know that while Bethesda's timing could have been better, the quality content they've produced makes up for it. By popular demand, Broken Steel comes to us first, and as a fan I can assure you, the experience is definitely rewarding.

Broken Steel starts right after the end of the Fallout 3 main quest, "Project Purity." You wake up inside the citadel and Elder Lyons tells you you've been unconscious for two weeks after the completion of your last mission. Lyons also informs you that even though Project Purity was a success, the fight against the Enclave continues and disposing of the remnant troops is your main task. Paladin Tristen and Scribe Rothchild give you a set of quests to get you started and back to the Capital Wasteland because the Capital Wasteland, is well… a wasteland—until clean water is flowing throughout.
Fighting the Enclave has never been more exciting than in Broken Steel. From fighting alongside Liberty Prime and watching him devour the troops, to dealing with the tough Enclave Hellfire Troopers, it's all an explosive beginning to your journey. Aside from dealing with the Enclave, you also encounter a lot of familiar foes: Super Mutants, Ghouls, Deathclaws (pain in the butt if you ask me) and more as you progress throughout the game. You'll also find yourself traveling to various familiar towns and discovering new ones in the process.

Another great addition to the game is that the level cap has been raised from 20 to 30 which allows you to acquire new skills and perks. Some of these new perks are really fun to have, like the "Puppies! Perk" which basically reincarnates Dogmeat after he dies, as a new and improved puppy waiting for you outside of Vault 101.
New missions, towns and perks are all well and good but let's not forget the new weapons you get to play with; the Alien Blaster which shoots out plasma-like ammunition dealing great amounts of damage, and the Tesla Cannon, which is a powerful weapon that's very useful against Turrets and Enclave Vertibirds at the Adams Air Force base. The Heavy Incinerator is also a "hot" new weapon to add to your arsenal. It shoots balls of fire at a ridiculously fast rate and can usually be picked up from Enclave Hellfire Trooper corpses.

With Broken Steel, Bethesda proves it's developed a solid formula for keeping us attached to Fallout 3 even a year after its release. And aside from stellar new content for everyone, (and without spoiling anything for you) Broken Steel also offers more to Playstation 3 owners now with some other new additions including a new Trophies system. All we can say is, Bethesda—keep the solid content coming.
Fun Factor: If you're a Fallout 3 fan, and have been waiting for this all year long, you won't be disappointed. Broken Steel brings a lot of awesome new quests and locations to explore, keeping you entertained for hours.
Game Length: Roaming and exploration never gets old. But if you follow the main quest line, you should get through it in about 6-8 hours.
Difficulty: The game does get progressively difficult at times, including parts where groups of Enclave Hellfire Troops make your life a living hell. But if you have Fawkes or Paladin Cross following you around, you're golden.
On the Negative Side: Waiting a year for the first DLC drop is definitely disappointing and some gamers might argue against the $9.99 fee.
Bang for your Buck: In my opinion, Broken Steel is definitely worth the purchase. At $9.99 on the PSN, a lot of PS3 owners wondered if it was worth the price tag after being delayed for almost a year. If your copy of Fallout 3 is collecting dust on the shelf, this gives you a reason to pick it up and get excited about playing it again.
