Yes candy sure is dandy, but for this Halloween the fine folks over at Valve have cooked up something special for gamers. By playing Team Fortress 2 this weekend, gamers are invited to a special Halloween themed map that howls the very phrase trick or treat.

The online event for Team Fortress 2 called, Haunted Hallowe'en Special, begins today until November 2nd. And for all you boys and ghouls, Valve has created a unique King-of-the-Hill map called Harvest, that feature some spooky gameplay quirks for Team Fortress 2 players.

Apparently legend tells of the "restless spirit of Zepheniah Mann" who haunts the Harvest map. A ghoulish figure that if you so happen to cross on that night, you will instantly freeze with fear. Other stories also tell that the recently deceased have been known to rise and infest the living with candy. All in good fun of course for this update, with other surprising details that you'll have to check out for yourselves.

Oh and for those of you who are crying out, but where are the achievements? Valve has you covered too, with five new achievements all fittingly titled for the Halloween event: Candy Coroner, Scared Stiff, Ghastly Gibus Grab, Costume Contest, and Attack o' Lantern. Bag those Scarechievements and be rewarded a nifty Halloween themed hat just perfect to celebrate the occasion.

So if you're in need for some Halloween excitement, pop in Team Fortress 2 this weekend and have some ghastly fun thanks to Valve.

Filed under "Oh crap, another story guaranteed to send angry, torch-bearing mobs after game developers", a U.K. teen has been arrested in the brutal axe-murder of an elderly woman. James Callaghan, age 17, apparently suffering from long-diagnosed but untreated schizophrenia, killed 65 year old Irene Robertson, a woman unknown to him.

Psycho Teen

Callaghan was known to become violent when intoxicated and had taken in an entire bottle of vodka before committing the murder. Unfortunately for the gaming community, police are looking at his having lost three consecutive games of FIFA right before the killing, as a possible catalyst for his actions.

At the scene, Callaghan left a message saying, "Mam, I'm sorry I didn't mean to kill an old woman". Lack of intent will no doubt be tough to prove since before taking Ms. Robertson's life, he had attacked or menaced two young women, a teenage boy, a cyclist and a married couple.

Another terrible instance of a violent act by a troubled young person who sadly, failed to receive the treatment he needed. It's just too bad videogames have once again been implicated.

Either "Mister Metal Gear Solid" himself, Hideo Kojima, loves to go all stylish for photo ops with his production team, or they're filming a new C.S.I. in Japan.

Well whatever the motivation is, you can't deny how gallant this picture above is; even if it's just for their Kojima Productions blog site. You can check that out (though you'll have to understand Japanese in order to read it) by hitting the following link.

Utilizing Forza Motorsport 3's Paint Editor System, Capcom Unity member Baboon designed a Servbot themed Ford Fiesta. The paint job perfectly captures the goofiness of the Servbots while remaining a force to be reckoned with on the open road. One wonder what other video game themed designs this impressive work will inspire.

Usually baby gifts are so predictable. Year after year they come in the same old pink-for-girls, blue-for-boys varieties, regardless of what your baby might really be all about. What if your baby hates pink and/or blue and instead was born to save the world from zombie attack?

Left 4 Dead Mobile

This Left 4 Dead mobile, made of not-so-baby-friendly black mat board and wire, made by industrial designer "SaltyandSweet" for Etsy.com, is laser cut and guaranteed to keep your zombie-killing tyke entertained for hours!

Sadly, the Left 4 Dead mobile is already completely sold out but plenty of the slightly less sexy Braaains mobiles are still available, just in time for the holidays. It's a gift that gives a whole new nuanceĀ  to the term "zombie-mobile".

You ever tried to find a heroic quest to go on? These days it is a hell of a challenge! You'd think it would be simple enough to hoist a few flagons, pick up a sword, and head off down the road looking for treasure — but every time you try it, it's no time at all before the cops are dragging you down to county lockup, putting you up on charges of drunken and disorderly conduct, and saying some junk about lewd behavior. Whatever. Cops just do not understand "What Is Best In Life," I tell you.

Aaaaaanyways, you may not have heard of the band Wintergreen before, and it is entirely possible that you will never hear about them again, but in the video linked here, they find themselves a heroic quest worthy of the name. And if you didn't know about this before, you'll also learn the legend of the worst video game of all time.

Sega Console Lighters

Net-You is accepting pre-orders on these Sega Console lighters made by Banpresto for the low price of about $115. I think they look pretty cool, but not sure if i'd spend $115 for them, maybe you would? Available through November 6th.
