FPS War Rock takes Facebook by storm

GamersFirst, the Free2Play® MMO game publisher (currently serving over 28 million players in 160 countries) has found yet another way to connect with gamers–Facebook. The company's new first-person free-to-play shooter, War Rock (which sounds like it should be the first cousin to Tim Schafer's Brutal Legend) has one of the fastest-growing fan pages, having gone from 500 to 10,000 fans (10,630 at this writing) in the last week.

“It was incredible to see the drastic growth on War Rock’s fan page over the past seven days,” says Jon-Enée Merriex, producer for GamersFirst’s FPS titles. “We anticipated a jump since we decided to offer specialized Facebook-only promotions, but didn’t realize that it would create such a massive impact in such a short amount of time.”

War Rock is a tactical FPS where players fight on land, sea, and in the air. While appearing to have a fairly unimaginative storyline with a vaguely "Iraqui Conflict" theme, the game seems to offer enough weapons, power ups and field equipment to keep gamers busy.

GamersFirst will be sponsoring events and supporting an integrated clan system and gamers willing to shell out a few bucks can access premium stuff like marketplace discounts and extra weapon slots.

Looks like something to check out, for those of you who love to shoot but just can't stop Facebooking. For more information, visit the War Rock website.
