Details on the North American appearance of the "Alternative" edition of Resident Evil 5 have finally been given by capcom today. In a press release, they have announced that the expansion to one of 2009's highest sellers will hit our shores in multiple ways. Now dubbed the: "Gold Edition", players have the option of getting the new content (which includes TWO new episodes, a ton of new costumes, and EIGHT new playable characters for it's "Mercenaries Reunion" mode) in the form of DLC, or in a boxed edition featuring the original game and all its available downloadable content for $49.99. PS3 owners get all the content on one Blu-Ray, while 360 owners get a token to download all the content.

I've mentioned before how I was... displeased with some of Resident Evil 5's more unusual design choices (*cough Boulder Punch cough*), but I am still interested in seeing what this new content has to offer.

What say you?
