Dave Halverson Re-launches GameFan MagazineBy: Zeus , Publisher/CEO |
After a decade absent from store shelves, GameFan Magazine is returning to the fold of print media in a new, dual-cover proprietary format covering both videogames and filmed entertainment.
The 12x10, large-format, dual-cover nature of the magazine will allow for coverage videogames on one side and filmed entertainment on the other, said Dave Halverson, the co-founder of GameFan who is heading up the new magazine, in a press release sent out to industry public relations.
The idea behind the split is not just to bolster a new approach to print media, but also to provide the maximum appeal not just to videogame and film industry interests, but also retailers and consumers, Halverson said in the release. The editorial focus of the magazine has also changed, with a focus on original content unlike what is available online.
The brainchild of Halverson, a long-time industry head, and publisher Tim Lindquist, GameFan was originally launched in 1992. Halverson left the magazine in 1998 to pursue other publications.
The new GameFan/Moviefan split magazine is currently being prepped for a mid-March release.
