Blizzard announced an overhaul in the battleground system today. Marks of honor will disappear, but a random battleground tool will be implemented, Blizzard poster Zarhym said. He also said these changes will be released with the next minor content patch, but didn't give a date for its release.
Among the changes:
- Marks of honor will be removed, and the items purchased with the marks will shift to a different currency.
- Honor earned from Honorable Kills will be increased 100%
- Honor earned from completing Wintergrasp quests will be reduced by 50%, but the honor earned from completing particular objectives will be increased, as they are based on Honorable Kills.
- Holiday Battlegrounds will be restructured under the title "Call to Arms", awarding 30 Honorable Kills worth of honor for the first Call to Arms win of the day, then 15 for each Call to Arms battleground win that follows. Losing a Call to Arms battleground will reward 5 Honorable Kills worth of honor.
- A random battleground tool will be implemented that works exactly like the random dungeon tool. Players can queue with up to 5 people, and the awards for the random battleground will be the same as Call to Arms (30 Honorable Kills of honor for the first random win, etc.), but will not stack with Call to Arms.
Zarhym went on to say that this patch should be hitting the Public Test Realm (PTR) in the near future.
