Arkham Asylum 2 Will Be Hamill's Last Portrayal as The JokerBy: Andreas Asimakis, Managing Editor |
Unless you've been living in a cave, with your eyes shut and your fingers in your eyes, you should know that Mark Hamill's voice work as The Joker is nothing short of brilliant. His portrayal of The Clown Prince of Crime in Rocksteady's critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum brought The Joker character to new heights. And now with Rocksteady poised to release of Arkham Asylum 2, Hammil will once again reprise his most recognizable role (suck it Skywalker) - and probably for the last time.
"My answer to (Rocksteady) for the sequel was, 'Guys, we're never going to be able to top the original.' I wanted to be able to say I'd gone out on a high note....This will be my last, there's no question about that. But it's the last hurrah."
Mark's certainty, disheartening as it seems, leaves us to wonder what Rocksteady will do if this is indeed Hamill's last stab at DC's green-haired lunatic. Any actor who tries to take on this role in future Arkham Asylum titles will never live up to Hammil's energy and palpable insanity when portraying The Joker. Could Rocksteady work a plot point to make Arkham Asylum 2 the last its franchise will see of The Joker? Let us know what you think.
