Persona 4 Arena: Move Trailers Revealed, Part I

As we fast approach the release of Arc System Works’ newest anime-style 2D fighter Persona 4: Arena, their partner in crime and creator of the Persona series Atlus has revealed move trailers for characters in the game over the last week to keep the hype going nice and strong. Our good friends from the Persona 4 crew are featured below, keep an eye out for your favorite.

The Bloodcurdling Beefcake Emperor! Kanji looks pretty bad ass if you ask me. The power of his bromance with Take-Mikazuchi is quite potent. He may not be one for flashy detailed combos, but his special moves hit hard and mostly result in knockdowns. Plus how often do you get to bash someone upside the head with a chair in a game that doesn’t start with WWE?

The Spunky Dragon with Deadly Legs! Chie looks to be pretty tech heavy with counters and combos. Not to mention galactic punt is quite possibly the best idea for an instant-kill move out of the entire cast. After all, it was an instant kill in Persona 4. I still don’t get how she gets away with wearing that bright green jacket.

The 2000-IQ Killjoy Detective! Naoto certainly appears to have the advantage of range, though her gun attacks may not have much stopping power. She has quite the repertoire to tap into; there will no doubt be a great deal of battle strategizing involved in mastering the androgynous gunslinger.

Captain Resentment! Yosuke is our resident ninja for this game and looks to be as deadly in the air as he is on the ground. Garudyne is also arguably the sickest looking elemental attack; seriously, it’s brutal. He looks to lack in sheer power, so mastery of his air and ground combos will be key to using Mr. Junes to his full capacity.

The Unconquerable Snow Black! Yukiko’s nickname is a tad more deceptive than everyone else’s, as she’s an absolute sweetheart in Persona 4. In any case, she’s definitely one of the more unique fighters. She has multiple power-ups for her fire attacks, and relies quite heavily on her element. She is also able to heal herself which in the past has gone either way in terms of usefulness in fighting games.

The Sister-Complex Kingpin of Steel! As any main character should be, Yu appears quite balanced. His sword gives a decent medium range and Ziodyne is right behind Garudyne for crazy looking elemental attack. There doesn’t seem to be anything too complex so beginners to the Arc System Works’ style of fighter may find Yu a good place to start off.

Be sure to check out the characters of Persona 3  in their respective move trailers as well. So, does your favorite Persona 4 character look like someone you’d play in P4: Arena? August 7th is only a month away, it is then we’ll finally be able to jump back into the TV!
